HP Driver Preferences: Color Matching In the Color Management dialog of the HP Printer Driver there are two distinct options depending on your workflow. Option 1, Automatic: The automatic option will use whatever profile is associated with the paper type you chosen in your Paper Type/Quality settings. This option is the best if you are using HP paper and are not creating custom profiles. In the example right, HP Designjet 3100 Photo Gloss Paper was chosen in the “Paper Type/Quality dialog” so the profile “HP Designjet 3100 Photo Gloss Paper GE On.icc profile was automatically chosen by colorsync. If you are using custom profiles or third party media then go to Option 2 |

Option 2, Custom: The custom option should be used if you are utilizing a custom made profile or are using a third party paper with its own custom profile. By clicking on the profile dialog you will bring up a list of all profiles associated with the paper you have selected in the “Paper Type/Quality dialog” If you do not see the profile you wish to use scroll down to “Other” it will bring up your entire colorsync profile library. If you are using a custom profile make sure that you have loaded it into the ColorSync library. |

HP Driver Preferences: Paper Type/Quality Paper Type: The media type setting controls the internal Color look up table (Which will contain lineariation, ink limit and total ink limit) that the driver will use in conjunction with an ICC profile. If you are using a custom profile pick an Epson media that is as close as possible to the media you are using. Most third party medias will specify what media type setting was used when creating a custom profile. Remove Top/Bottom Blank Areas: This setting will automatically remove and blank areas on the top and bottom of a print job. All other Printer Settings: All other settings can be made according to user preference. They will not effect color. These settings will differ from printer model to printer model. All settings may not be available on all models. |
